At the initiative of a group of geography professors of Macedonia, on 14.11.2014 a meeting was held which confirmed the need and also supported the initiative to create the Association of Macedonian Geography Professors as soon as possible. The Advisory Board which was formed at the same meeting in the period that followed took measures for preparation of all the necessary acts for the registration of such association, according to all the legal regulations of the Republic of Macedonia, and it is named Association of Macedonian Geography Professors AMGP - Skopje.
On 20.12.2015 was held the Constituent Assembly which adopted the Statute and Program, after which concrete steps were taken, setting targets, regulations and making the program for the Association of Macedonian Geography Professors – AMGP - Skopje. One of those goals, of course is to familiarize all interested parties to join the Association of Macedonian Geography Professors – AMGP - Skopje and to make a complete transparency in the sphere of action. Especially motivating element for all members was the positive response and admiration for teachers / geographers to create this entity’s civil actions on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, its identification as a transparent, useful and recognizable entity to achieve common goals.
With the Decision that was made by the Central Registry of the Republic of Macedonia, in January 2015, the Association of Macedonian Geography Professors – AMGP - Skopje became an equal element in the mosaic of civil society in the Republic of Macedonia with all rights and obligations under the Law on Citizens' Associations and Foundations and other positive legislation in the Republic of Macedonia.
AMGP Skopje, its vision and mission will achieve through full respect of the Statute and Program and the needs of all the members of the association.
On the session of the Assembly of AMGP Skopje, held on 21.03.2015, a decision that the association is changing its name was made by adding the name of the Ljube Milenkovski, PhD. The new name is: Association of Macedonian Geography Professors "LJUBE MILENKOVSKI, PHD”- Skopje, while the shorter name of the association is: AMGP "LJUBE MILENKOVSKI, PHD”- Skopje
The amendments are based on the initiative of a group of members of the association, stating that Ljube Milenkovski, PhD in his life and working life gave a huge contribution to the development of geography, first as a teacher and textbook writer, also developing at the same time the geographical scientific thought. His contribution to science and book production is of particular importance to the development of geography as a subject in the curricula.
He devoted his entire life to education, and says that education is a craft that needs to be learnt consistently, and he was and remains one of the largest educational publishers in Macedonia.
Based on his contribution and authority in this profession, we consider an honor to be a member of an association that will carry the name of the Ljube Milenkovski, PhD.
